A Really Small, Squished Englishman

I have kinda avoided writing this post. It's like, by not writing it, it didn't really happen...... But, it did.

My Georgia has turned 2! WHAT? HUH? 2? Seriously? Seriously! I don't want to believe it either. I remember the day like it was yesterday. The Englishman and I got up, got dressed and headed to the hospital. We had an appointment to meet our little lady. At 11:50 I heard the wails and then saw this....

It was like looking at a really small, squished Englishman. He was so funny. He was so nervous that when they took her to the nursery and told him he had to follow he didn't even say bye to me. I'm sitting on the operating room table being sewn up and he just glances over and said "I'm going with her" and then ran out. Uhh - bye then. So there she was, our beautiful, peaceful, healthy, un-named little lady.

You can see her birth announcement post here and read her birth story here.

This was taken when she was about an hour old and she was finally named. We decided on what has turned out to be the perfect name.

Georgia Rose Clarkson

Our Georgia is now 2 and is AMAZING! She is learning so much.

Here she is at her party blowing out the candles on her cake. I made the cake and even though it may not be pretty, it was delicious! Take that Martha Stewart!

Here she is on the night of her 2nd birthday showing us what a big girl she is and drinking from a water bottle. PS - she did her own accessorizing. She's got a talent!

Georgia Girl we love you to the moon and back times a million. You have taught me so many things but the greatest thing I have learned is that my capacity to love is much larger than I ever thought possible. I never thought I wanted a daughter (who's with me? They have so many "issues" to deal with later in life that boys don't!) but she has made me realize that I wanted one, needed one and am so thankful to have her.

Happy Mother's Day

My Mother's Day started with church. The Young Women were in charge of a brunch for all the mothers in our congregation. We had chicken salad on rolls with some fruit and for dessert a scoop of ice cream with a cookie. It turned out really lovely and I am extremely proud of the job the Young Women. I also want to send a thank you to Sis. Jarvis (the younger) and the Faith in God for Girls as well as Sis. Shaw and the Primary. The tables and centerpieces were not only delicious to the eyes but also to the taste!! (Pictures to come)

After church my family headed to the beach to meet up with my parents and brother. We went to my Uncle's property on a private road. The road has a pool and is beach front.

This was the beginning of our adventure. You can see the dock to the beach in the background.

As soon as I gave the go ahead the boy was off! He left us all in the dust. By the time we got down to the beach this is what I saw....

It was at this point that I realized with my unexplainable and very real fear of fish, I haven't taken that boy to the beach since he was 6. So I've never gone over beach safety! I started screaming for him and waving for him to come back to shore so I could go over it and calm my troubled heart. As I'm screaming and waving for him I remember the kid wears glasses AND hearing aids. So he ain't seeing or hearing nothing! Luckily my brother was there and swam out to get him.

My kid with my hero.

Georgia had never been to the beach. She hated the walk through the sand. What I didn't get on camera (besides me...lol) was her walk through the sand. She was holding Daddy's finger and when she wouldn't move I said "Hold Mommy's hand." So she grabbed my finger and then hung from our fingers refusing to put her feet on the sand. It was really funny. She did, however, warm up to the beach. (More than I might like.)

Georgia with Daddy and Pappaw

I love this picture. The happiness on my boy's face and then my Daddy, aka Popeye, in the background.

I hope your Mother's Day was filled with everything that makes your life wonderful. Mine certainly was!

Happy Mother's Day!
